Using Resources Across Steps

Using resources across steps is a fundamental aspect of Riffyn, and allows complex data linking by resource names across the steps of your process.

Resources used by a process can flow across connected steps which use the same resource type. If many connected steps use the same resource type, then a resource assigned to any one of those steps will automatically be assigned to all other connected steps. This automatic assignment is based on the material flow specified by a process design.

If a resource does not flow across many steps, but is related to upstream resources based on a matching resource type, then consider using the sample of/make new feature.

If a resource does not flow across many steps, but is transformed into another resource type by a step, consider using different resource types for the inputs/outputs of steps in your design to indicate a transformation of resource types is occurring.
