Properties can store data entered manually or via upload, or the property value can be calculated from other properties within the same step. Calculated properties can be evaluated during data export or by a manual trigger and are denoted in design mode by a "calculator" icon to the right of the property name.
To configure a calculated property, add a property to a step and then click the calculator icon to the right of the property name. This will open the "Create/Edit Property" modal which allows you to specify the formula used for the calculated property. There are two type of formulas that can be configured for calculated properties: formulas and export only formulas.
Properties with calculations that can be manually triggered in an experiment can be configured from the formulas tab. This tab allows the target value or actual value to be calculated from property values, resource names, or property specifications (target, usl, lsl) on the same step. In measure mode, the calculation of these properties is manually triggered.
Formulas can be used to build dynamic and responsive feedback into your Riffyn process without the need for a spreadsheet or external calculation tool.
Formulas can be used with this list of operators and do not work across multivalued data.

Export Only Formulas
Step 2 of the "Riffyn: Measure Absorbance" process contains an export only formula for "Dilution Factor". Export only formulas are built from the actual values on properties within the same step. Each Property is assigned a variable name, with variable names being used to build the calculation formula:
Export only formulas are limited to basic mathematical operations, and work across multivalued data.
If properties or resource types assigned to a variable change in your process, the calculator icon next to the property will turn red indicating an error in formula, which should be checked for accuracy.
